Sargeant breaks a three-decade-long drought!

The most recent time an American scored a point in Formula 1 was back in 1993 at the Italian Grand Prix when Michael Andretti came in third place. This marked his only podium finish in F1 and was the last time an American driver earned a point in Formula 1 for over three decades.

During the 1993 season, Michael Andretti, who currently heads Andretti Global seeking a spot on the F1 grid, drove for McLaren Racing that year and was teammates with the legendary Ayrton Senna. However, Andretti's F1 journey was relatively short-lived, as he only participated in 13 races before being replaced by Mika Hakkinen for the last three races of the season. His third-place finish at the Monza Grand Prix was the highlight of his season, surpassing two previous races where he earned points. In the end, he accumulated 7 points in his F1 career.

Fast forward to the 2023 US Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas, and Logan Sargeant from Williams Racing secured tenth place, earning a single point. This remarkable achievement put an end to a drought that had lasted for nearly 11,000 days.
