2011 Watkins Glen Seat Swap

The 2011 seat swap between Lewis Hamilton and Tony Stewart at Watkins Glen Raceway was a highly publicized event that brought together two of the biggest names in motorsports. The seat swap was organized by Mobil 1, a sponsor of both drivers and aimed to showcase the similarities and differences between driving a Formula 1 car and a NASCAR stock car.

The event occurred on June 14, 2011, with Hamilton driving Stewart's #14 Chevrolet Impala stock car and Stewart driving Hamilton's 2010 McLaren MP4-25 Formula 1 car. The two drivers spent the morning getting accustomed to each other's cars and discussing the differences between the two types of racing.

In the afternoon, the two drivers took to the track for a series of demonstration laps. Hamilton was impressed by the power and weight of the NASCAR car, while Stewart struggled with the braking and cornering of the F1 car. However, both drivers seemed to enjoy the experience and the opportunity to try something new.

The seat swap was well-received by fans and the media, with many praising the two drivers for their sportsmanship and willingness to take on a new challenge. The event also generated significant publicity for Mobil 1 and its sponsorship of both drivers.
